This talk introduces the Compassionate Math Framework, which outlines the socioemotional factors that contribute to success in mathematics as well as other areas (STEM). Equity and social justice, as a foundational component of the framework, is also discussed. This framework is based on the assumption that learning mathematics is both an emotional and intellectual act. The goal of this talk is to bring the affective (emotional) side of learning to the forefront, a side that is all too often forgotten.
