2026 AI Symposium workshop series

In April 2026, TIDL disseminated a survey to students across the Highline campus to better understand how students are using Gen AI in their academics and understand student perceptions around AI. The goals of the survey were to help participants:

  • Understand how frequently and for what purposes students are using AI tools
  • Identify perceived benefits and challenges of AI use in coursework
  • Learn how students interpret current course or institutional expectations related to AI
  • Gather student perspectives to help guide future policies, support resources, and instructional approaches

The survey had responses from 92 students. A few of the TIDL Faculty in Residence will help to facilitate a discussion around understanding students’ responses that may inform teaching practices as well as future course policies. Below is a sneak peak into the data.

Facilitator:

Rashmi Koushik (ELCAP, LTC Faculty-in-Residence) & Patrick Kwon (Mathematics, EdTech Faculty-in Residence)

Modality:

In-person in the Faculty Center (9-109)
