SUMMARY:Student AI Survey Data Discussion
DESCRIPTION: \nIn April 2026\, TIDL disseminated a survey to students across the Highline campus to better understand how students are using Gen AI in their academics and understand student perceptions around AI. The goals of the survey were to help participants:\n \n\nUnderstand how frequently and for what purposes students are using AI tools\nIdentify perceived benefits and challenges of AI use in coursework\nLearn how students interpret current course or institutional expectations related to AI\nGather student perspectives to help guide future policies\, support resources\, and instructional approaches\n\nThe survey had responses from 92 students. A few of the TIDL Faculty in Residence will help to facilitate a discussion around understanding students’ responses that may inform teaching practices as well as future course policies. Below is a sneak peak into the data. \n \nFacilitator:\n\n\n\n\nRashmi Koushik (ELCAP\, LTC Faculty-in-Residence) & Patrick Kwon (Mathematics\, EdTech Faculty-in Residence) \nModality:\n\n\n\n\nIn-person in the Faculty Center (9-109) \nAbout the 2026 AI Symposium workshop series:\n2026 AI Symposium sessions take place throughout Spring Quarter. Click here to view other workshops in the series. \n
