Algorithms are everywhere–in our social media feeds, our interactions with Gen AI, and more. In this seminar, we’ll see how algorithms can harm people, especially those from marginalized communities due to biases in the programming. Additionally, learn what’s being done to minimize the effects of bias.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define algorithms, algorithmic justice, and algorithmic bias
  • Identify the disproportionate impact algorithms can have on marginalized groups
  • Explain why algorithmic justice matters

Facilitators:

Katie Fiorello (EdTech) and Angel Steadman (LTC & ELCAP faculty)

Modality:

In-person.
