10/28/22 New Faculty Seminar
This group of new tenure track faculty and new lecturers meets as a cohort periodically throughout the year.
Our October 28th session explores navigating Highline and using the 4 Connections.
Session Outcomes:
- Teaching and Learning: Learn and share practical, evidence-based pedagogical techniques and strategies that strengthen student learning
- Faculty Resources: Build a support network of colleagues from divisions and departments across the campus.
- Student Resources: Identify resources from academic affairs and student services that can assist students in meeting their needs, and explain when and how to refer these students to these resources.
- Anti-Racist Education: Identify strategies to participate in “an organizing effort for institutional and social change that is much broader than teaching in the classroom.” (Yale’s Poorvu Center)
- Culturally Responsive Education: Identify the strengths and needs of Highline’s diverse student population, and build classrooms that are responsive to the unique differences of each student.
- Reflective Practice: Use critically reflective practices to continuously improve teaching, learning, and student success.
