3/18 Leading and designing faculty learning communities
Facilitated by JuliA Metzker, Director of the Washington Center for Improving Undergraduate Education
Communities of practice are also known at Highline as Faculty Inquiry Groups. Come learn what makes a COP effective, and gain confidence in designing and/or leading engaging COPs. We’ll learn what research has to say about making communities successful, and how to sustain their work once they are completed.
Outcomes:
• Articulate best practices for facilitating CoPs to be effective in achieving learning outcomes and being inclusive.
• Identify strategies to build community and design a brave space for mutual learning, equitable participation and supportive challenge.
