11/16/2023 Advising Best Practices for International and ELCAP Students
In celebration of International Education Week, this session will focus on best practices for supporting Highline’s diverse student population, which includes international students and non-native English speakers. As an advisor, it is necessary to be aware of the unique challenges facing students in these populations, in order to provide adequate support and ensure success. Join us to learn more about Highline’s International Student Programs, the services of English Language, Career and Academic Prep (ELCAP) and acquire tools and resources to assist in your advising practice.
Learning Objectives:
- Gain a better understanding of our diverse student populations at Highline and their needs.
- Understand the systems of support for international and/or non-native English speaking students.
- Learn different approaches and strategies for advising diverse student populations
