SUMMARY:Planning for RSI Success
DESCRIPTION:Planning for RSI Success\nInstructors teaching online courses are required by the federal Department of Education to provide Instructor-initiated Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) in online courses.  In this workshop\, we’ll talk about instructional practices that meet student needs and satisfy regulatory requirements. We’ll also introduce the new RSI review process negotiated by HCEA and the college. This workshop assumes a familiarity (but not expert-level knowledge) with online teaching and the categories of RSI. \nFull-time and Part-time Faculty can receive stipends for completing deliverables for this workshop! \nLearning Objectives:\n\n\nSummarize the list of updated RSI practices that improve completion and meet regulatory requirements\nApply the new RSI review process to online courses\n\nRelated Tenure Criteria:\n\nShow commitment to student learning\nCommunicate effectively\n\nBonus:  The RSI process can be part of the Professional Growth and Professional Conduct tenure criteria \n\nFacilitators:\n\n\n\nKatie Fiorello (EdTech) and Tarisa Matsumoto-Maxfield (LTC Co-Chair)\nModality:\nHybrid. Mt. Skokomish (8-207) and on Zoom. (Highline login required) \nStipends Available:\n\nPart-time instructors can earn a $70 stipend for attending the entire workshop and additional $100 stipend for completing a deliverable.\nFull-time instructors can earn a $100 stipend for completing a deliverable.\n\nRegister to receive a stipend by filling in this Google form.
