SUMMARY:Late Policies to Balance Your Workload & Support Student Success
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description:\nJoin Stephanie Ojeda Ponce to talk about late policies. Consider how course late work policies impact teacher workload\, student success\, and the class environment. Talk about a variety of late policy strategies and examples and share your own. Use the information to make a mid-quarter change or prepare for next quarter. This will be a short session focused on specific options rather than an extensive discussion of values. \nTitle: Late Policies to Balance Your Workload & Support Student Success \nSchedule: Tuesday\, November 12th at 3:30 – 4:20 pm \nPlace: Zoom link available here (Highline login required) \nShareables: The slide deck & session recording will be shared. The session recording may be paused at times to provide confidentiality for participants. \nSession Outcomes \n\nAnalyze how class late policies affect the learning environment for teacher and learner\nApply concepts to change or affirm late policies\n\nRelated Tenure Criteria:\nThe content in this workshop is mainly relevant to the college-wide tenure criteria Communicate Effectively and Demonstrate Personal & Professional Integrity. Faculty could mention changes they’ve made to late policies based on thoughts sparked by this discussion in their self-reflection. Pro Tip: Reference student input from class discussions\, student evaluation\, etc in the self-evaluation to demonstrate what happened as a result. \n\nCommunicate effectively. This includes conveying information and expectations clearly\, listening carefully\, encouraging students to communicate\, and acting with respect\, enthusiasm\, and empathy toward students.\nDemonstrate personal and professional integrity. This includes\, but is not limited to\, being professional\, honest\, and ethical in the selection and delivery of course content.\n\n  \nLinks to the tenure criteria\, self-reflection recommendations\, and reflective writing suggestions can be found on the HC Tenure Review Committee (TRC) page. \n
